Overview
The Ferrata delle Guide di Gressoney is particularly renowned for the high level of physical fitness required, making it one of the most rewarding challenges in Italy for those looking to test their strength. The route climbs up breathtaking, overhanging rock faces, where stamina, endurance, and steady movement are key to enjoying the ascent. Although it is incredibly well-equipped, making the technical aspects very manageable, it is still a route that demands respect: many sections are highly sustained and require a good level of physical preparation, alongside a head for heights. In the final stretch of the itinerary, you will encounter the "yellow" and "black" variations, which offer the most challenging sections, with steeper, more vertical walls perfect for experienced climbers.
Season: From May to September
Programme
We will meet at the car park near the church in Gressoney-La-Trinité, where we will do a quick gear check. We then begin our approach along an unnumbered but well-marked and visible local path, heading north. In just a few minutes of walking, we will reach the start of the via ferrata. The route is highly airy and exposed, featuring some very physical passages: it is good to be well-prepared right from the start, as we immediately encounter a challenging section. At the end of this first section, you can cross the exciting Tibetan bridge that leads to the second, more challenging part. Depending on how you feel, we can decide together whether to continue and complete the via ferrata or to head back down to the village along the path.
Difficulty D for the 1st section (Difficult) - Difficulty TD for the 2nd section (Very Difficult)
